2024-04-20 08:55

Recently, some Chinese citizens reported that some individuals made fraudulent use of China Embassy in Malaysia in making call to people. They claimed to have documents or packages of the called ones at the Embassy, or that their bank cards have been misused, or their passports are involved in cases and will soon be cancelled which are all false and inverted information. Then they would demand the called ones to provide Personal Identification  Card and banking account information to them, and induced the called ones to transfer money for various reasons to the scammers.

Nowadays fraudulent methods are equipped with high-tech, scammers can use certain technology to simulate the phone numbers of the Embassy, more deceptive and misleading to ordinary people than former fraud crimes. To prevent people in Malaysia from financial losses, the Embassy hereby informs the followings:

1. China Embassy in Malaysia and China public security and judicial authorities would not notify involvement in cases through making phone calls or messaging Apps. The Embassy would not inform individuals via telephone to collect expired documents, parcels and materials of any kind, or request banking account numbers, passwords and other sensitive information. The Embassy would never request money transfers or remittances.

2. If anyone asks for such information, it’s most likely a scam.
