Foreign Ministry Spokesman Qin Gang's Comments on the Report about Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary's Paying Homage to Yasukuni Shrine
2006-08-07 00:00

Q: It is reported that Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Shinzo Abe paid homage to Yasukuni Shrine on April 15th this year, what is your comment?

A: We express our concern over the relevant report of the Japanese media. The Japanese leaders should stop paying homage to Yasukuni Shrine where the Class-A war criminals of the World WarⅡare enshrined and remove the political barriers impeding the normal development of China-Japan relations with concrete actions. It is the common desire of the two peoples and serves the fundamental interests of the two countries. We hope Japan can make joint efforts along with China to push China-Japan relations back to the normal development track at an early date.
