Ambassador Ouyang Yujing: Embark on a New Journey, Benefit from Shared Opportunities

On 1 November 2022, Malaysian local media published an article by Ouyang Yujing, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Malaysia, entitled “Embark on a New Journey, Benefit from Shared Opportunities”. The full text is as follows.

The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) was held in Beijing from 16th to 22nd October. At the congress, General Secretary Xi Jinping delivered a report of great importance which had comprehensively summarized the work of the past five years and the great transformation taken place in the past ten years since the conclusion of 18th CPC National Congress. Based on scientific study and assessment, this reports has set out a grand blueprint of advancing the great cause of rejuvenating the Chinese nation on all fronts by following the path of Chinese modernization. This report has also sent a clear message to the world that China will make new and greater contributions to world peace and development.

Weathering through trying times, China becomes more prosperous.

When China entered the new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics, impressive achievements have been made in China under the leadership of CPC who has united and led the Chinese people from victory to victory. These history-making achievements have attracted worldwide attention. A historic victory has been made in eradicating absolute poverty in China with 832 impoverished counties and nearly 100 million poverty-stricken villagers lifted out of poverty. It is the biggest poverty alleviation achievement in human history. China’s economic strength has achieved a historic new high with its GDP increasing from 54 trillion yuan to 114 trillion yuan, accounting for 18.5% of world economy. China’s GDP per capita also rose significantly, from 39,800 yuan to 81,000 yuan. China has furthered its opening-up in both scale and depth. It has become a major trading partner with over 140 countries and regions in the world, ranking first in total trade in goods. It is also a leading country in foreign direct investment and outward direct investment. China has successfully built a moderately prosperous society in all respects, achieving the First Centenary Goal.

With promising future ahead, China will move forward with unity and resolution.

We will continue to move forward towards realising the Second Centenary Goal, further advancing the great cause of rejuvenating the Chinese nation on all fronts through the path of Chinese modernisation. China will focus on promoting high-quality development and put more efforts in building a new economic development paradigm of "dual-circulation", which takes the domestic market as the mainstay while letting internal and external markets boost each other. China will continue to practice and enrich the whole-process people’s democracy which ensures Chinese people as true masters of their country. China will continue to promote cultural self-confidence by taking more efforts in enriching Chinese people's spiritual world with more excellent Chinese cultural products. China will continue to improve people's livelihood and work toward common prosperity for all. China will take to a green development road and foster a harmonious coexistence between humans and nature. As General Secretary Xi Jinping has said, “Chinese modernization shares common characteristics with other modernized countries, more importantly, it bears unique features specific to its own national context.” The Chinese modernisation has provided a new choice for other countries in achieving their modernisations.

Keeping mankind’s well-being in mind, China shares weal and woe with the rest of the world. 

China is not only working hard to bring happiness to its own people and achieve its own national rejuvenation, it also cares much for the progress of mankind and common prosperity of the world. General Secretary Xi Jinping stressed that China would always safeguard world peace, promote common development, and push for building a global community with a shared future for mankind. China will always pursue the independent foreign policy of peaceful development, firmly opposing to any form of hegemony and power politics. China will continue to add stablility to world peace and be open to fostering friendly relation with  other countries. China will continue to pursue an open strategy based on mutual benefits and win-win cooperation, ready to share new opportunities with the rest of the world. China will continue to keep to the basic norms governing international relations and uphold true multilateralism. China has put forward the Global Development Initiative and the Global Security Initiative aiming to explore new paths for global governance. China will continue to contribute Chinese wisdom to the world by sharing its own development experiences with others in solving difficult problems in human development.

Dearly Cherishing China-Malaysia friendship, China will jointly work with Malaysia to achieve common prosperity.

Next year will mark the 10th anniversary of the establishment of China-Malaysia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The year after next will witness the 50th anniversary of China and Malaysia establishing diplomatic relations. China will share new opportunities with Malaysia. Together, China and Malaysia will face up to new challenges and move forward toward achieving the new goal of building a China-Malaysia community with a shared future. China stands ready to work together with Malaysia to strengthen cooperation in the post-pandemic era. They will further strengthen the strategic synergy and jointly promote the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative(BRI) programs and projects. China and Malaysia will continue to promote cooperation in all fields and sectors. They will contiue to advocate true multilateralism and push forward the progress of regional integration. Together, China and Malaysia will continue to promote world peace and prosperity, making more contribution to the betterment of mankind.
