On August 15, Chinese Embassy in Malaysia gathered its diplomats to attend the Malaysia Nanyang Volunteer Drivers and Mechanics (Nan Qiao Ji Gong) Memorial Ceremony and World War II Victory Commemoration, organised by Kwong Tong Cemetery Kuala Lumpur and several Malaysian Chinese associations. Together with more than 200 friends from various sectors, they observed a moment of silence and laid flowers for the Nanyang Volunteers who sacrificed in the war.

In his speech on behalf of the Embassy,  Minister-Counsellor Wang Jiarong said that Japanese militarism brought profound suffering to Asia and the world. Instead of deeply reflecting on its history, Japan has continuously accelerated remilitarization, challenging the post-war international order. Japan’s neo-militarism has become a real threat to regional peace and stability. China stands ready to work with Malaysia and all peace-loving countries to resolutely safeguard the achievements of World War II victory and international fairness and justice, as well as jointly advance prosperity and stability of the region and the world.

Minister in the Malaysian Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories), Hannah Yeoh Tseow Suan said that efforts to carry forward the spirit of the Nanyang Volunteers should be carried on. Malaysian Member of Parliament Tan Kok Wai said, vigilance should be maintained against new developments in Japanese militarism, and efforts should be made to safeguard world peace.
